| » ABOUT CHANCE DESIGN | |
Chance Design was founded by Stacey Robinson and his wife Jennifer in 1997 out of a desire for site furnishings that fit the rich historic character of downtown Miles City, Montana. Their response included benches and bike racks sculpted from metal to look like log benches and hitching posts and can be seen today along Miles City's Main Street. These pieces were recently recognized by the American Society of Landscape Architects with a Merit Award for Excellence in Site Furnishings. Since that time they have focused on custom interior furnishings that reflect their western roots. Literal and abstract interpretations of western themes are reflected in each of their pieces. Primary materials include recycled steel plate and cold rolled steel complemented with marbles, travertines, and granites. Their work has been published in Landscape Architecture magazine (May 2002) and Log & Timber Style magazine (December 2003) and can also be seen in select art and furniture galleries in Montana, Idaho, and Wyoming. Their work strives to take these raw, cold materials and create a sense of warmth and richness unique to contemporary western design. Stacey was born and raised in Eastern Montana and educated at the University of Oregon where he received his degree in Landscape Architecture. He, his wife and two children reside in Billings, Montana where he practices metal work and landscape architecture. |
